BACK TO THE FUTURE: Letterhead Design of the 1960s

Exhibition from August 22 to September 5, 2013 (9:00 am to 9:00 pm) in the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery of Dawson College, just inside the 4001 de Maisonneuve entrance to the college. One hundred and twenty original cover letters with letterheads on display, as well as some unusual items from the collection and large reproductions of letterhead details thanks to the macro photography of Anthony McClean.  Click “Home” on the top right menu to see portfolios of the letterhead collection. This event is brought to you by S.P.A.C.E. (Sciences Participating with Arts and Culture in Education) at Dawson College. The curator of the exhibit is Frank Mulvey, and George Vaitkunas has written the essay for the exhibition catalogue. The graphic design of the poster, invitation and catalogue is by Catherine Moleski.  Photo documentation of the exhibition is by Don Corman, except for the last panoramic shot by Frank A. Mulvey.

  1. So much good and creative design must have been lost by now.
    I remember visiting design offices in San Francisco in 1964 . . . so much creativity.
    The fashion ads, great hand drawn art, powerful . . . now it’s all photoshop.
    Stationary using letterpresses, even logos were often created by using pieces found in the font drawers.
